Wyoming Seminary is one of the last four Class 2A girls tennis teams in the state pursuing a title at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Championships Saturday at the Hershey Indoor Racquet Club.
And, four football teams are left to complete the last day of regular-season competition in any fall sport.
That is the entirety of the schedule in District 2 sports in the aftermath of 10 night football games fighting through the rain and wind that 2 field hockey playoff games raced to beat Friday afternoon.
Wyoming Seminary plays District 3 champion Conrad Weiser in the state semifinal at noon. The Blue Knights made it to this point with 3-2 wins over last year’s two finalists in Tuesday’s opening round and Friday’s quarterfinals.
Conrad Weiser defeated Beaver Area, 4-1, in Friday’s quarterfinals, the first of the rounds that brought teams together in Hershey from around the state.
District 7 champion Sewickley Academy and District 1 champion Lower Moreland, which have both advanced to this point with consecutive, 5-0 state victories, meet in the other semifinal at 2.
The championship match is scheduled for 6.
The football schedule includes the lone game that was postponed from Friday night and a Saturday night finale that had been moved early in the season.
Wilkes-Barre Area (4-5) is at Berwick (5-4) at 1 p.m. in a non-league game between Wyoming Valley Conference teams.
Susquehanna plays Holy Redeemer at King’s College’s McCarthy Stadium at 7 p.m. in a non-league meeting between 2-7 teams. Both teams got their wins over Holy Cross and Montrose.
