Every Lackawanna Football Conference and Wyoming Valley Conference football team will take advantage of the first legal date of scrimmages to conduct their one scrimmage Saturday in preparation for next weekend’s regular-season openers.
Montrose, which is playing an independent schedule this season, has canceled its scheduled scrimmage against Towanda.
Most teams from around District 2 will start their scrimmages in the morning.
Scheduled for 10 a.m. starts are: Crestwood at Wallenpaupack, Dunmore at Dallas, Nanticoke at Holy Cross, Lackawanna Trail at Western Wayne, Lake-Lehman at Riverside, Lakeland at Tunkhannock, Mid Valley at Carbondale, Pittston Area at Honesdale, Wilkes-Barre Area at North Pocono, Wyoming Area at Abington Heights, Athens at Susquehanna, Berwick at Whitehall, Hanover Area at Palmerton, Hazleton Area at Stroudsburg, Holy Redeemer at Marian Catholic, Pocono Mountain East at Scranton, Selinsgrove at Wyoming Valley West and West Scranton at Reading.
The West Scranton-Reading scrimmage is at Albright College.
Pen Argyl is at Old Forge at 10:30.
Southern Columbia is at Valley View at 11 a.m.
Delaware Valley goes to Bethlehem Liberty for a 1 p.m. scrimmage.
Scranton Prep and Green Pond Notre Dame are at East Stroudsburg South for a three-way scrimmage, beginning at 2 p.m.
Although they do not have the same level of immediate participation as football, Saturday is also the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association’s first scrimmage date for boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball, field hockey and boys and girls cross country.
