Girls tennis takes a second shot at Opening Day while golf features a first-place showdown to highlight the Tuesday sports schedule in District 2.

Both the Lackawanna League and Wyoming Valley Conference were scheduled to open their girls tennis seasons Monday, but the entire schedule was wiped out by rain.

At least four of the Lackawanna League matches have been reset for Tuesday afternoon with North Pocono at Montrose, Valley View at Wallenpaupack, Mid Valley at Scranton and Dunmore at West Scranton.

In golf, two of the champions from last season’s four-division Lackawanna League format put unbeaten streaks on the line when they go head-to-head in a Class 2A Division lead.

Scranton Prep is at Lackawanna Trail at 11 a.m. at Stone Hedge. The Cavaliers and Lions are tied with Holy Cross at 3-0, a half-match behind another 2021 division champion Montrose, which is 4-0.

Scranton Prep is unbeaten in its last 86 Lackawanna League matches while Lackawanna Trail is unbeaten in its last 24.
