Wyoming Valley Conference girls tennis will get started Wednesday, two days later than originally planned.

The entire conference Opening Day schedule was wiped out Monday because of weather.

Defending Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state Class 2A champion Wyoming Seminary opens at home against MMI Prep at 3 p.m.

Rivals meet when Wyoming Area, which returns all seven starters, goes to Pittston Area for a 4:15 p.m. match. It is technically Wyoming Area’s home match, but the Lady Warriors use the courts at Pittston Area’s Mattei Middle School for their home matches.

Potential Lackawanna League contenders meet in a battle of No. 2 teams in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Girls Tennis Rankings of District 2 teams.

Scranton Prep, the No. 2 Small School behind Wyoming Seminary, opens its season at 4:15 p.m. against No. 2 Big School West Scranton (1-0).

No. 1 Big School Abington Heights opens its Lackawanna title defense at home against Scranton at 4.

There are also WVC golf matches scheduled.
