Abington Heights teams put unbeaten league records on the line in important events in three sports Thursday, hosting Wallenpaupack in two of them.
Wallenpaupack (8-0 league, 9-1 overall) is at Abington Heights (9-0) in a match between two of the last three Lackawanna League girls tennis unbeatens.
First-place Abington Heights (5-0, 6-2), pursuing its first division title since 2008, hosts defending champion Wallenpaupack (3-2, 4-4) in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 field hockey game.
Abington Heights is also leading the race for the top seed in the District 2-4 Class 2A Subregional playoffs.
The Abington Heights golf team, which has already clinched at least a tie for first place, will try to take the Lackawanna League Class 3A Division title outright. The Comets (11-0-1, 12-0-1) are at Valley View (5-6-1).
The Thursday schedule also sends Pittston Area (4-1, 5-4) to Holy Redeemer (3-0-1, 5-0-1) in WVC Division 2 boys soccer. Holy Redeemer leads the division while Pittston Area is part of a second-place tie.
Defending champion and second-place North Pocono (4-1, 5-3) is at Delaware Valley (2-1-1, 4-2-1) in a Lackawanna League Division 1 boys soccer game. Delaware Valley is tied for third place in the division but listed above the Trojans in the Riverfront United Super Six Soccer Power Rankings of District 2 teams.
Both teams are coming off blowout wins. Delaware Valley shut out Wallenpaupack, 8-0, and North Pocono used 10 second-half goals to rout Scranton, 11-0.
Valley View (9-2, 11-2) is at West Scranton in another Lackawanna girls tennis match.
Division 2 second-place team Susquehanna (4-3, 5-3) is at Division 1 leader Blue Ridge (6-0, 8-0) in Lackawanna League girls volleyball.
