The Lackawanna League Class 3A golf semifinals highlight the Thursday schedule in District 2 sports.
Wallenpaupack (9-5) is at top-seeded Abington Heights (13-0-1) in a match at Glen Oak Country Club at 3 p.m. and Honesdale (9-4-1) is at second-seeded North Pocono (11-2-1) in a match at Elmhurst Country Club at 3:30 p.m.
Abington Heights started its 12-match league winning streak with a 9-0 home victory over Wallenpaupack, but only beat the Buckhorns, 5-4, in the road rematch.
Honesdale upset North Pocono, 5½-3½, late in the season and battled the Trojans at Elmhurst in a 5-4 loss.
The winners play Oct. 5 at Elkview Country Club to determine the Lackawanna representative for the District 2 Class 3A boys team championship.
The last Lackawanna League Class 2A quarterfinal is also scheduled with top-seeded Scranton Prep hosting Western Wayne at Glenmaura National.
Both volleyball leagues have matches between contenders.
Defending champion Delaware Valley (6-1 in conference, 8-1 overall) is at one of the two remaining Wyoming Valley Conference unbeatens, Lake-Lehman (6-0, 7-2).
Lackawanna divisional leaders square off when Division 2’s Lackawanna Trail (4-3, 4-4) plays at Blue Ridge (8-0, 12-0).
WVC Division 1 girls soccer leader Crestwood (6-1, 7-4) plays at third-place Berwick (4-3, 5-4).
There are also boys soccer, girls tennis and field hockey events on the schedule.
