(Presented by Center City Print)

GRETCHEN REJRAT, Lackawanna Trail junior shortstop

Time period: May 15-21

Game One: Rejrat went 4-for-6 with three doubles, four runs scored and five RBIs in a wild, 30-15 victory over Mountain View in a May 15 Lackawanna League Division 3 game.

Game Two: Rejrat put on a power display May 17, hitting home runs in all four at-bats while driving in six runs during an 11-3, Lackawanna Division 3 victory over Susquehanna.

Season statistics: Including going 2-for-2 in Monday’s season-ending, 12-4 playoff loss to Dunmore (which came after the week for which she was honored), Rejrat batted .623 with 33 hits, 26 runs, 28 RBIs, 9 doubles, a triple and 6 home runs.

About Gretchen: Rejrat was also an impact player for the Lady Lions as a freshman, batting over .500 as a leadoff-hitting shortstop.

About the Lady Lions: Rejrat’s big week allowed Lackawanna Trail to finish the regular season on a four-game winning streak. A team that lost its first 5 games, went 7-1 at the end of the regular season, scoring 11 or more runs in 5 of the games. The strong finish allowed the Lady Lions to climb into a third-place tie in the eight-team division at 8-6 and end their season with an 8-8 overall record.
