Lake-Lehman started on top and left little doubt along the way.
Crestwood moved to the top with its season-opening performance and worked its way through its few serious threats.
The two teams not only posted perfect records in the Wyoming Valley Conference on the way to District 2 team championships, but also locked up their spots as the No. 1 teams in the final Riverfront Sports Super Six Golf Power Rankings of District 2 teams.
The final rankings were released Sunday afternoon with six players from the No. 1 teams already in State College, practicing on the Penn State courses for the individual portion of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Golf Championships. The individual state tournament returns to its pre-COVID format of 36 holes over two days and will be followed by Lake-Lehman and Crestwood’s team title pursuits Wednesday.
Lake-Lehman’s Michael Lugiano, Eli Ropietski, Cael Ropietski and Charlie Weidner will all pursue individual honors before teaming up Wednesday. Crestwood has Derek Johnson and Owen Blazick in both tournaments.
The remainder of both sets of rankings also was unchanged.
The teams behind district runners-up Scranton Prep and Abington Heights had all finished their seasons with the exception of some individual entries in state play.
Lake-Lehman and Scranton Prep, last season’s No. 1, were followed in the Small School rankings by Lackawanna Trail, Riverside, Holy Redeemer and Montrose.
Crestwood and Abington Heights were followed in the Big Schools by North Pocono, Hazleton Area, Honesdale and Wyoming Area.
