Three unbeaten teams – two that will meet this week to decide one league title and another that has already clinched the first championship of the spring – fill the top three spots in the first Riverfront Sports Boys Tennis Power Rankings of District 2 teams.
Abington Heights, the Lackawanna League co-leader that won the league and the District 2 Class 3A championship in 2019, holds the No. 1 position.
Dallas, which already completed a 9-0 run through the Wyoming Valley Conference, is ranked second.
Scranton Prep, the other unbeaten Lackawanna League team, is third. The Cavaliers play at Abington Heights Wednesday.
A total of eight teams are listed, following the NEPA Sports Nation and Riverfront Sports practice of ranking roughly the top one-third of teams that are active in the sport.
Crestwood is fourth, followed by Dunmore, Wyoming Seminary, Honesdale and Valley View.
Sixth-ranked Wyoming Seminary won WVC and District 2 Class 2A titles in 2019. None of the spring sports were conducted in 2020.
The Riverfront Sports girls lacrosse, boys volleyball, boys lacrosse and boys track and field rankings were released earlier by NEPASportsNation.com. Initial rankings for other sports will be revealed daily, then each will be updated on a weekly basis.
