Upsets create shuffle in rankings

Two upsets, each involving Crestwood, led to changes this week after three straight weeks of identical positioning in the Electric City Volleyball Academy Elite Eight Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

Nanticoke and Western Wayne each moved up by extending winning streaks while teams that they had lost to head-to-head fell in matches against teams the Trojanettes and Lady Wildcats have beaten.

Dunmore also moved up and Dallas joined the rankings for the first time.

The upsets – at least in terms of where they compared in the rankings – were then-No. 5 Crestwood beating No. 3 Holy Redeemer a day after falling to unranked Dallas.

Unbeaten Delaware Valley and Berwick held on to the top two spots.

Nanticoke replaced Holy Redeemer, swapping third and fourth positions, after the Lady Royals lost two straight. The Trojanettes have won seven in a row.

Western Wayne won four straight during the week to extend its winning streak to 10. The Lady Wildcats moved up, trading fifth and sixth place with Crestwood.

Dunmore moved up from eighth to seventh, Dallas moved into the eighth spot and Tunkhannock fell from the rankings.

Dallas beat Crestwood in its return from 16 days off.
