Cougars return to girls rankings

The Abington Heights boys moved up one spot and the Valley View girls made a return in the latest Riverfront Sports Super Six Swimming Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The rankings were released Thursday afternoon with results of all meets completed through Wednesday considered.

Of the dozen teams in last week’s rankings, 11 competed in league meets and 9 were unbeaten during the week.

The two that lost opened the door for the minimal movement in the rankings.

The Hazleton Area boys and Scranton Prep girls continue to hold down the No. 1 positions.

Hazleton Area is followed by Delaware Valley, Dallas and Scranton Prep in second through fourth.

Abington Heights, new to the rankings a week ago, moved up from sixth to fifth, trading spots with Wyoming Seminary.

Wyoming Seminary suffered its second loss, 113-52 to Hazleton Area.

Dallas, Delaware Valley, Wyoming Seminary and Tunkhannock remained second through fifth in the girls rankings behind Scranton Prep.

Valley View replaces Hazleton Area, which lost twice, in sixth place.
