Valley View used a win over the previous No. 1 team to take over the top spot among Big Schools, while Riverside did the same to not only jump back into the Small School rankings, but do so in fourth place when the new Riverfront Sports Super Six Softball Power Rankings of District 2 teams were posted Wednesday afternoon.
North Pocono also rejoined the rankings.
Valley View won all four of its games, clinching at least a tie for first place in Lackawanna League Division 1, and stepping outside the league to win, 4-1, Saturday at defending state Class 5A champion and former No. 1 Pittston Area.
Tunkhannock, which has split Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 games with Pittston Area and has clinched at least a tie for first place, remained in the No. 2 spot.
Pittston Area dropped from first to third.
Abington Heights, the only team outside the top three with a win against one of those teams, remained fourth. The Comets, who handed Valley View its only loss, had a 3-0 week.
North Pocono came back into the rankings in the fifth spot after a 4-0 week for a five-game winning streak.
West Scranton, which lost to Valley View, 10-4, and won twice, stayed in sixth.
Hazleton Area lost its only game and fell from the rankings.
Mid Valley, which has already clinched a Lackawanna Division 2 title, held No. 1 despite its first loss.
WVC Division 2 champion Lake-Lehman won three times and moved from third to second, swapping places with Elk Lake, which had a 15-game winning streak broken in an 11-0 loss to Tunkhannock.
Riverside beat Mid Valley and won its other two games, 17-0 and 14-0.
Old Forge also won three times with two shutouts and held fifth.
