Luca Argenio rallied for a three-set victory at No. 1 singles Monday as Wyoming Area defeated Tunkhannock, 4-1, in Class 2A in the last quarterfinal of the District 2 boys tennis team tournament.
The other quarterfinals were played Thursday and Friday.
Wyoming Area’s win completes the field for Tuesday’s District 2 semifinals and finals at Kirby Park.
Third-seeded Wyoming Area (11-1) faces second-seeded Holy Cross (13-1) and fifth-seeded Scranton Prep (11-3) plays top seed and defending champion Dallas (12-0) at 11:30 a.m. in Class 2A.
The Class 3A semifinals are set for 1 p.m. with third-seeded Valley View (12-3) against second-seeded Delaware Valley (11-3) and fourth-seeded Berwick (7-5) against top seed and defending champion Abington Heights (14-0). The Class 2A final, then 3A final follow.
Argenio defeated Zac Kaiser, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, in Monday’s quarterfinal.
The teams split the other singles matches.
Tunkhannock’s only point came at No. 2 singles where Mark Holovacs defeated Nick Winsock, 6-0, 6-2.
Dylan Stoss won at third singles, 6-1, 7-5, over Aiden Edwards.
Gabe Cable-Braidon Kostik won at first doubles, 6-2, 6-1, over Elijah Goglin-Jack King. Eli Harding-Nick Cirelli beat Brian French-Aiden Montross, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5, at second doubles.
