Warriors, Lady Chiefs climb in rankings

The Wyoming Area boys and Lakeland girls lead the list of teams moving up in this week’s Riverfront Sports Super Six Track and Field Rankings of District 2 teams.

All four No. 1 teams – North Pocono in Big School boys, Mid Valley in Small School boys, Abington Heights in Big School girls and Lake-Lehman in Small School girls – remained unbeaten within their divisions and held on to their respective top spots.

Wyoming Area moved from third to second in Small School boys after clinching at least a tie for the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 title. Lakeland moved from fifth to third in Small School girls after clinching at least a tie for first place in Lackawanna Track Conference Division 3.

The Holy Redeemer girls also moved up, going from sixth to fourth among Small Schools.

The Holy Redeemer and Tunkhannock boys, as well as the Crestwood girls, joined the rankings.

Valley View, which is second to North Pocono in Big School boys, clinched at least a first-place tie in LTC Division 1.

Wyoming Area swapped placed with Lakeland, which lost an LTC meet for the first time since 2012, in Small School boys.

Holy Redeemer and Tunkhannock knocked WVC rivals Lake-Lehman and Hanover Area out of the boys rankings, taking over fifth and sixth in the Small School.

Crestwood replaces Valley View as the sixth team in the Big School girls’ rankings.

Lakeland and Holy Redeemer move up the two spots in Small School girls, passing Wyoming Area and Mid Valley, which drop to fifth and sixth after each suffering its first loss.
