Warriors shut down Preppers late

Wyoming Area held MMI Prep to seven second-half points Friday night while winning a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 boys basketball game for the second straight night, 47-30.

Dane Schutter scored 24 points to lead the Warriors.

MMI Prep came in on a three-game winning streak that it used to move into a fourth-place tie in the division with Wyoming Area.

The Preppers then took a 12-3 lead in the first quarter and remained in front, 23-19, at halftime despite 10 second-quarter points by Schutter.

Schutter’s 13 points helped Wyoming Area outscore MMI Prep, 28-7, in the second half.

Lukas Burakiewicz added 10 points in the win.

Caden Pease led MMI Prep with eight points.
