Ella McKernan scored midway through the fourth quarter Thursday night to lift Wyoming Area past host Lake-Lehman, 1-0, to earn the Lady Warriors a shot a rematch and their first division championship.
Wyoming Area and Lake-Lehman entered their Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 finale in a tie for second place. The win allowed Wyoming Area to finish in a first-place tie with Wyoming Seminary, which handed the Lady Warriors their only loss, in overtime, in a game played earlier this month at Sem’s Klassner Field.
Rylee Muniz made four saves in the shutout.
The Lady Warriors had a 5-4 lead in shots on goal in the defensive struggle. The Lady Knights led in penalty corners, 7-6.
Wyoming Area and five-time defending champion Wyoming Seminary will meet in a playoff to determine the division champion.
