Wyoming Seminary reached the midway point of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships in fourth place in the Class 2A girls team standings.
The Blue Knights used two individual medalists and a third-place relay team in Wednesday’s opening day of Class 2A competition to score 60 points and settle into fourth place behind Mount Pleasant (124), Erie Cathedral Prep (92) and Blue Mountain (74).
The Class 2A competition concludes Thursday, then the Class 3A championships will be conducted Friday and Saturday.
Ryleigh Collins led the way, finishing third in the 200-yard freestyle while Alyssa Kelly was seventh in the 100 butterfly. They were both part of the third-place 200 medley relay.
Cara McCall and Ava Betnar were also on the relay team.
Dallas had two third-place finishers – Brianne Dempsey in diving and Lydia Gonzales in the 200 individual medley.
The top eight qualifiers in each swimming event raced in the final for the eight available medals.
The next eight qualifiers competed in the B Final to place between ninth and 16th and score points for their teams.
Peyton Stauffer from Dallas was 10th in the 200 free while Scranton Prep’s Tessa Mangan was 12th.
Molly Hubal from Valley View was 11th and Mary Kate Kupsky from Wyomng Seminary was 12th in the 200 IM.
Dallas was 11th in the 200 freestyle relay.
Scranton Prep was 14th in the medley relay and 15th in the freestyle relay.
