Wyoming Sem holds on to No. 1

Wyoming Seminary used three playoff wins, including one-goal victories over its two closest pursuers, to maintain its hold on the No. 1 spot in the Golden Dome Abstract Super Six Field Hockey Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The Blue Knights have been No. 1 for all but one week this season and are there again in the rankings, which were updated following the results of Wednesday’s playoff action.

Wyoming Seminary defeated No. 2 Wyoming Area in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 championship playoff and No. 3 Lake-Lehman in the District 2 Class A semifinals, both by 2-1 scores.

With Wyoming Area also beating Lake-Lehman, 1-0, in the game that forced the Division 1 title game with Wyoming Seminary, the rankings remain the same this week.

Wyoming Area is the top seed in District 2 Class A where it hosts No. 5 Lackawanna Trail in a Thursday semifinal.

Lake-Lehman’s season is complete.

No. 4 Honesdale, which is the top seed in Class 3A, and Crestwood, the No. 2 seed in the District 2-4 Class 2A Subregional, are both preparing for semifinals.

Wyoming Seminary has already qualified for the District 2 Class A final with its win over Lake-Lehman.
