Wyoming Sem regains top position

Wyoming Seminary has given up the No. 1 position in the Golden Dome Abstract Super Six Field Hockey Power Rankings just once.

The Blue Knights took it right back this week.

Wyoming Seminary used a 3-2 overtime victory over Wyoming Area, last week’s No. 1, to reclaim the spot in the rankings, which were compiled following the completion of Wednesday’s games.

Honesdale and Lackawanna Trail also moved up this week.

Wyoming Seminary did suffer another loss outside the area when it was beaten by The Hill School, but the Blue Knights had a big week within the Wyoming Valley Conference.

After defeating Wyoming Area, Wyoming Seminary also pulled out a 1-0 victory over Lackawanna Trail, another ranked opponent, then clinched at least a tie for first place in WVC Division 1 with Monday’s 3-1 victory over Wilkes-Barre Area.

Wyoming Seminary is followed in the rankings by the two teams that are scheduled to meet Thursday with the winner earning a share of first place.

Wyoming Area, which dropped one spot to second after its only loss of the season, is at Lake-Lehman, which held third by winning four times.

A tie in the game between the two teams tied for second place would give the title to Wyoming Seminary.

Honesdale and Lackawanna Trail each moved up one spot into fourth and fifth. Honesdale was on its two games while Lackawanna Trail won three out of four.

Crestwood slipped from fourth to sixth after losses to Lake-Lehman and Lackawanna Trail.
