Wyoming Sem takes over top spot

Three teams are packed within a half-game of each other at the top of the Wyoming Valley Conference boys lacrosse standings.

When they have squared off, two of their three meetings resulted in one-goal games.

The most impressive win in the series belongs to Wyoming Seminary, which used that victory to take over the top spot in this week’s Riverfront Sports Boys Lacrosse Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The new rankings were released Wednesday afternoon.

On April 27, the first day after the last rankings came out, Jack Herron scored five goals, Xavier Beaulac added four and Quinn Kelly made 12 saves to lead Wyoming Seminary past Crestwood, 9-5.

Wyoming Seminary shut out Abington Heights, 19-0, in its other game and jumped from third to first.

Delaware Valley held on to second by winning three games by a total of 47-15, extending its winning streak to eight games by a total of 124-41

Wyoming Seminary and Delaware Valley each have just two losses and only one – by a single goal – within District 2.

Crestwood, which still has a half-game lead in the WVC, dropped from first to third. It recovered from the loss to Wyoming Seminary to beat Wilkes-Barre Area, 19-8.

Scranton Prep won two out of three games and held on to fourth.

Dallas handed Scranton Prep that loss to rejoin the rankings in fifth.

Similar to the top three, the Cavaliers, Mountaineers and Lake-Lehman, the team Dallas replaced in fifth, have gone 1-1 in games against each other.

Dallas joined the rankings by beating Scranton Prep and Lakeland, 13-4, before losing to Delaware Valley, 13-5.
