Harry Pugliese ran for 4 touchdowns and Drew DeLucca passed for 225 yards Friday night when Pittston Area defeated host Nanticoke, 35-6, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 football game.
The road win kept Pittston Area on target for a potential division title showdown with rival Wyoming Area in the final game of the regular season.
Pittston Area is 2-0 in the division and 3-3 overall. Wyoming Area, the only other divisional unbeaten, is 3-0 and 3-3 to lead by a half-game. Nanticoke slipped to 1-2 and 2-4.
DeLucca hit Kevin Lockett with 100 yards worth of passes and found Brody Spindler with a 2-yard pass for the game’s first score.
Following a scoreless first quarter, the Patriots went in front 14-0 at halftime.
Pugliese had a 10-yard touchdown run, followed by his two-point conversion in the second quarter. He ran 7 yards for a score in the third quarter, then added 5- and 44-yard touchdowns in the last 5 minutes to break the game open.
Zach Fox ran 18 yards for the only Nanticoke touchdown in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 21-6 at the time.
