Scranton Prep got right back on the winning track Monday night.
Maya Jenkins led the way with strong second and third quarters as the Classics bounced back from their first loss of the season to extend their Lackawanna League winning streak to 70 games by handling host North Pocono, 58-29, in a Division 1-2 crossover girls basketball game.
The five-time defending Division 1 champions improved to 9-1 overall in their first game since losing on the road to unbeaten New Jersey powerhouse Red Bank Catholic.
Jenkins had seven points when Scranton Prep went from being tied after one quarter to leading 25-18 at halftime. She then scored eight in the third quarter when the Classics broke the game open by outscoring the Lady Trojans, 20-6. Jenkins also had 3-pointers in the first and fourth quarters and finished with three in the game while scoring 21 points.
The Classics are the No. 1 Big School girls team in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Basketball Power Rankings of District 2 teams and have held that position all season.
Rita Collins added 11 points in the win, which allowed Scranton Prep to maintain its lead in Division 1.
The loss knocked North Pocono out of a share of the Division 2 lead. The night started with three teams tied at the top, but Wallenpaupack is alone in first after routing Western Wayne, 51-21.
Kylie Mastillo scored 13 points for North Pocono, including nine in the first half.
