Evan Laybourn-Boddie scored 19 points Friday night as West Scranton went on the road and defeated Division 2 leader North Pocono, 53-49, in a Lackawanna League Division 1-2 crossover game.
The Invaders improved to 4-4 in the league and 9-8 overall and passed the Trojans into fourth place in the District 2 Class 5A playoff seeding race. If the playoffs started today, North Pocono would have to travel to West Scranton for a quarterfinal game.
North Pocono’s lead in Division 2 was reduced to one game over Honesdale, which won in overtime at Delaware Valley. The Trojans are 5-3 and 9-7.
Laybourn-Boddie had nine points in the second quarter when the Invaders outscored the Trojans, 14-6, to erase an early deficit and take a 25-24 halftime lead. He had half of the team’s 12 points in the fourth quarter when it held on for victory.
Tristan Lee and Chris Ogden added 10 points each.
Chris Walsh led North Pocono with 15 points and A.J. Nemitz added 12.
