Sydney Upright hit four 3-pointers while scoring 22 points Saturday as Elk Lake posted a 61-30, non-league girls basketball victory at Carbondale.
The win was the sixth straight for the Lady Warriors, who were 4-8 prior to the streak in which they have pulled into position to make the District 2 Class 3A playoffs.
Elk Lake (10-8) passed Lakeland into the eighth spot in a 10-team playoff race by putting together their winning streak and having the Lady Chiefs lose four of their last five.
The Lady Warriors are winning by an average of 21.5 points per game during the streak, which includes a win over second-place Mountain View in a Lackawanna League Division 4 game. That victory avenged a loss, as did Tuesday’s non-league victory over Old Forge.
The Elk Lake-Carbondale game was the only girls basketball game played in District 2 Saturday.
