With the top teams beginning to secure their regular-season titles, the only changes in this week’s Riverfront Sports Super Six Track and Field Power Rankings of District 2 teams are near the bottom of the rankings.
The Tunkhannock boys move up while the Valley View and Montrose girls move into the rankings.
North Pocono (Big Schools boys), Mid Valley (Small School boys), Abington Heights (Big School girls) and Lake-Lehman (Small School girls) all remained unbeaten and held on to the No. 1 spots.
Mid Valley, which had already clinched at least a tie for first place, secured an outright Lackawanna Track Conference Division 3 boys title.
Lake-Lehman clinched at least a tie for first place in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 girls where it only needs to beat the last-place team in the final meet to officially take the title outright.
The Big School boys rankings are the only ones that remain unchanged.
Valley View, which claimed the LTC Division 1 title, is second. The Cougars also won the Class 3A boys title in the Jordan Relays.
The Cougars are followed, in order, by Hazleton Area, Wyoming Valley West, Abington Heights and Wallenpaupack.
Tunkhannock and Holy Redeemer, tied for second in WVC Division 2, trade fifth and sixth place in Small School boys with the Tigers moving up.
No. 1 Mid Valley also won the Class 2A boys title at the Jordan Relays in addition to taking its division title.
Wyoming Area remains second after clinching its outright WVC Division 2 championship.
Lakeland and Holy Cross held on to third and fourth.
Valley View replaces Crestwood as the sixth team in Big School girls behind five teams that are unbeaten in their divisions.
Abington Heights extended its dual meet winning streak to 83 and won the Class 3A girls title at the Jordan Relays to hold first in Big School girls.
Wallenpaupack, Dallas, Pittston Area and Scranton remain second through fifth. Wallenpaupack has clinched at least a tie for first place in LTC Division 2.
LTC Division 4 champion Montrose replaces Mid Valley in sixth in Small School girls.
Jordan Relays Class 2A girls champion Western Wayne is second, followed by LTC Division 3 champion Lakeland, Holy Redeemer and Wyoming Area. Western Wayne is the only team with a losing division record in the rankings, but the Lady Wildcats spend the regular season competing entirely against Big Schools even though they are a Small School team.
