Lake-Lehman, Crestwood reach Class final in 2A girls lacrosse

Lake-Lehman ended Wyoming Seminary’s District 2 girls lacrosse reign and Crestwood fought off an upset bid by Wyoming Area Monday to advance to Wednesday’s Class 2A championship game.

Madison Lasinski scored three goals and three teammates added two each as a balanced attack allowed Lake-Lehman to become the first team to ever beat Wyoming Seminary in a district playoff game, 12-6.

Wyoming Seminary had won titles in all nine of the seasons that District 2 conducted playoffs in the sport.

Kelsey Kulak finished with six goals and Isabella Caporuscio scored three times in the last two minutes as Crestwood got through the closest of its 13 games against District 2 competition this season, defeating Wyoming Area, 16-14.

The results set up a meeting between Wyoming Valley Conference champion Crestwood and a Lake-Lehman team that earned the top seed by having the best overall record among District 2 teams. Lake-Lehman (19-1) has won 18 straight since losing to Crestwood (14-2-1) and is scheduled to host the final Wednesday.

Rachel Shook had two goals and three assists for Lake-Lehman. Maddy Raspen and Lilian Raczkowski added two goals and an assist each.

Kortney Harry made seven saves.

Grace Parsons scored half of Wyoming Seminary’s six goals.

Wyoming Area led, 13-11, before Crestwood scored four straight goals, the last two by Caporuscio, District 2’s top scorer who had been held to two goals to that point.

After Halle Kranson brought Wyoming Area back within a goal in the final minute, Caporuscio scored the last of her five goals.

Julia Glowacki scored three goals and Jill Taleroski two for Crestwood.

Caporuscio, Glowacki, Helena Jardine, Julia Johnson and Julia Rose all had two assists for the Lady Comets.

Sofia Sabatini and Emma Kelleher scored six goals each for Wyoming Area. Kranson had the other two.

Makenzie Switzer had two assists.

The first meeting between the finalists was also at Lake-Lehman April 10 with Crestwood coming away with a 10-7 victory.
