The Pittsburgh Pirates went from being no-hit to pulling out a no-decision for Valley View graduate Max Kranick Tuesday, a night in which he appeared to be headed for a loss.
Pittsburgh was hitless into the seventh inning in Milwaukee, but before the inning was over the Pirates had scored five times to erase a 4-0 deficit on the way to an 8-5, 10-inning victory.
The big seventh inning took Kranick out of a potential loss, allowing him to avoid dropping a third straight decision since a win in his Major League Debut.
Kranick was the one who did not give up a hit in his first start for Pittsburgh when he worked five perfect innings of a win before sitting down for the day during a rain delay.
Tuesday’s start saw Kranick work four innings and give up three runs on five hits. The 24-year-old right hander walked three and struck out four.
In five starts, Kranick is 1-2 with a 7.20 earned run average. He has worked 20 innings, giving up 26 hits and 8 walks while striking out 18.
