Ron Prislupski’s second six-goal game of the season led Holy Cross to an 8-1 victory over Gregory the Great Academy Friday in Lackawanna League Division 2 boys soccer.
Prislupski’s scoring has helped the Crusaders outscore their first two opponents, 18-1. Friday’s effort came in the team’s league opener.
North Pocono also continued a strong start, defeating Wallenpaupack, 5-1, in Lackawanna Division 1.
The Trojans are 2-0 in the league and 3-0 overall, outscoring teams, 19-2.
Peter Sica scored the first and last goals of Friday’s win. Casey Jones assisted the first and scored the second. Alex Pagotta also had a goal and an assist while Jordan Carr made eight saves in the win.
Scranton defeated Honesdale, 5-4, in overtime Division 1 and Riverside knocked off defending champion Old Forge, 4-2, in Division 3 in the other Lackawanna games.
Khalil Khan, Ethan Ball and Jeter Cardona all scored two goals when Nanticoke shut out Hanover Area, 7-0, in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2.
Wyoming Area defeated Holy Redeemer, 3-1, and Wyoming Seminary downed Lake-Lehman, 3-1, in other WVC Division 2 games.
Matt Swartz scored twice for Wyoming Seminary.
GIRLS
Esabella Mendola’s hat trick led Wilkes-Barre Area to a 7-1 victory over Hazleton Area in WVC Division 1.
Wyoming Valley West edged Crestwood, 2-1, in the other WVC Division 1 game.
In non-league play: Pittston Area shut out West Scranton, 9-0, and Wyalusing Valley blanked Elk Lake, 8-0.
