Lions shut out Vikings, 34-0

Lackawanna Trail’s defense held Riverside to fewer than 100 yards total offense Saturday afternoon while leading the Lions to a 34-0, home-field shutout in a non-league game between Lackawanna Football Conference teams.

The game was scoreless until Owen Lisk hit Kody Cresswell with a 21-yard touchdown pass with 3:38 left in the half. Each was responsible for another touchdown.

Cresswell, who picked up 51 rushing yards in the first half, ran 9 yards for a touchdown with 41 seconds left in the second quarter, giving the Lions a 14-0 halftime lead.

Both Lackawanna Trail quarterbacks threw for touchdowns during the third quarter.

Stephen Jervis found Johnny Halter for 16 yards midway through the quarter, then Lisk hit Evan Litwin for 29 yards with 2:23 remaining to boost the lead to 27-0.

Lukas Gumble added a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

The Lions improved to 2-1 with their second shutout.

Riverside was playing for the first time since defeating Susquehanna, 21-20, in the opener.

The Vikings have not scored since taking a 21-0 lead in the first half of that game.
