Berwick took advantage of the game’s two longest plays Friday night.
The first helped make sure the Bulldogs never trailed and the second gave them a big enough lead to hold off host Tunkhannock, 21-16, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Class 4A Division football game.
Ryan Bankes opened the scoring with a 57-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
Tunkhannock moved the ball more consistently, including more than 200 yards passing by Ben Chilson, but Berwick opened a 21-10 lead with 3:36 left in the third quarter when Brayden Boone turned a short pass from Matt Lonczynski into a 75-yard touchdown.
Chilson, who scored on a 1-yard run to force a 7-7 halftime tie, found Hunter Gregory with a 7-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs (3-3) held on for their second straight win.
James DeAndra opened the second-half scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run to put Berwick ahead to stay.
Ian Barbini had a 36-yard field goal for Tunkhannock (2-4).
