Paulie Weinrich scored two touchdowns and intercepted a pass Friday night as Delaware Valley defeated visiting Scranton, 38-7, in a District 2 Class 6A football semifinal.
Joe Sciascia also scored twice while three other Warriors intercepted passes in the team’s eighth straight win since an 0-3 start.
The Warriors will host Hazleton Area in a meeting of 8-3 teams Friday at 7 for the district title.
Delaware Valley took a 7-0 lead after one quarter and opened it to 21-0 before Scranton closed to 21-7 at the half. The Warriors then shut out the Knights in the second half to put the game away.
Ryder Machado had six tackles, four assists and one of the interceptions to lead the defense.
Nate Melnick and Gabe Tidridge also intercepted passes. It was the second straight week that Tidridge, a lineman, picked off a pass.
Aiden Black had two sacks.
Everett Bell, who was 5-for-5 on extra points, kicked a 24-yard, third-quarter field goal for a 24-7 lead going into the fourth.
Sciascia finished with 119 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. He also caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Ross.
Weinrich carried 10 times for 51 yards and his 2 touchdowns.
Harlem Cook turned his only carry into a 23-yard touchdown.
Ross threw for 108 yards on 9-for-16 passing.
Scranton finished 4-7. It also lost to Delaware Valley, 35-0, late in the regular season.
