Berwick wins another showdown of WVC girls volleyball unbeatens

The list of Wyoming Valley Conference girls volleyball unbeatens has been cut from four to two between Friday and Tuesday.

Berwick did the trimming.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Holy Redeemer in four sets in a match to break a first-place tie in the WVC.

Berwick won, 25-18, 20-25, 25-12, 25-15.

The Lady Bulldogs (8-0 in the WVC and 10-0 overall) have won three conference road matches in five days. They handed defending champion Delaware Valley its first loss Friday and beat Pittston Area Monday.

Morgan Nevel led Berwick to victory with 34 assists, 12 service points, 6 aces, 7 digs and 4 kills.

Cece Isenberg had 19 kills in the win.

Sarah Steeber contributed 17 points, 6 aces, 7 kills and 10 digs. Kaylee Hacker had six kills, five points and four aces.

Holy Redeemer (7-1 and 7-3) was led by Kaylee Gryboski with 20 kills, 5 blocks and 3 digs.

Olivia Bilbow had 10 points, 9 assists and 5 kills.
