If there was any rust after two straight unscheduled weekends off, Old Forge disguised it well Friday night.
The unbeaten Blue Devils scored 48 first-half points in their return to action on the way to a 54-0 rout of visiting Hanover Area in a non-league football game.
Old Forge had a game canceled two weeks ago for a COVID-19 precaution at Northwest, then picked up a forfeit from Montrose last week.
The Blue Devils improved to 4-0 on the field and 5-0 with the forfeit by shutting out Hanover Area while the offense was putting a rusher, passer and receiver over the 100-yard mark.
Hezekiah Deitz carried 5 times for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead a ground game that picked up 15 yards per attempt while producing more than 300 yards.
James Sobol passed for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Ethan Tallo was the main receiver with 3 catches for 117 yards and the 2 scores.
The Blue Devils, ranked second in the state among Class A teams by PennLive.com, scored 21 points in the first quarter and added 27 more in the first 10 minutes of the second quarter in the Senior Night victory.
Deitz got it started, going up the middle for a 53-yard touchdown on third-and-eight.
Tallo scored on 42- and 40-yard passes from Sobol in the first quarter.
Four different players ran for the second-quarter touchdowns.
Casey Holzman scored from 10 yards, Deitz from 34, Josh Spindler from 56 and John Greenfield from 4.
Tim Ruby added a 37-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.
Hanover Area, which has been outscored 138-7 in the last three games, lost its fourth straight to fall to 1-5.
