COVINGTON TWP. – Blue Ridge was once again crowned District 2 Class A girls volleyball champion Wednesday night at North Pocono.

The Lady Raiders lived up to their status as favorite and top seed, sweeping Mountain View in three sets for the third time this season to increase their district title streak to eight.

Foxlynn King led the way with 9 kills and Libby Zick provided 18 assists as the Raiders won by set scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-16.

Blue Ridge took the first two sets with ease. The Lady Raiders were either ahead or tied through the entire first and second sets.

The Lady Eagles, however, did not go down without a fight.

Mountain View led, 5-3, early in the third set before Blue Ridge scored six of the next seven points. The Lady Raiders extended the lead from 9-6 to 16-9 and rode that momentum to a comfortable win in the clinching third set.

Blue Ridge advances to take on the District 4 champion in the first round of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class A state tournament.
