Wallenpaupack and Wyoming Valley West used strong performances in the Coal Cracker Invitational last weekend in Lehighton to move up when the latest Riverfront Sports Elite Eight Wrestling Power Rankings of District 2 teams was released late Friday afternoon.
Top-ranked Abington Heights finished third to lead 14 District 2 entries in the two-day, 60-team tournament.
Wallenpaupack was eighth and Wyoming Valley West 12th. That allowed them to move up one spot each into fourth and fifth place, passing Honesdale.
The Hornets dropped from fourth to sixth in the rankings after placing 14th in the tournament.
The rest of the rankings remained unchanged.
Delaware Valley is still in the No. 2 spot going into its match at No. 1 Abington Heights Saturday night to decide the Lackawanna League Division 1 title.
Lackawanna Trail remained third after going 6-0 during the week, including five wins in the Exeter Blue and White Duals.
Berwick clinched the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 title with a 63-9 win over Lake-Lehman and placed 26th at Lehighton. The Bulldogs are seventh.
Pittston Area had the week off and is still eighth.
