Comets, Raiders rise with sweeps

Abington Heights and Blue Ridge, unbeaten Lackawanna League teams which have not even lost a set this season, moved up in the new Riverfront Sports Super Six Boys Volleyball Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

Both teams are 5-0 after their showdown for the league lead was postponed this week.

Dallas joined the rankings while Holy Redeemer held on to first, followed by three unbeaten teams in the latest rankings, which were released Thursday morning.

Holy Redeemer is unbeaten within District 2 and 7-1 overall.

Abington Heights moved from third to second.

Tunkhannock slipped one spot to third, despite the district’s best record at 8-0 and a half-match lead on Holy Redeemer in the Wyoming Valley Conference.

Blue Ridge moved up from fifth to fourth.

Dallas, which has swept seven straight opponents, is the new No. 5 team.

Berwick falls from fourth to sixth after losing to Dallas.
