Isabella Caporuscio scored eight goals and assisted on four others Monday night as Crestwood opened defense of its District 2 Class 2A girls lacrosse title with a 20-8 victory over visiting Pittston Area.
The Wyoming Valley Conference champions and tournament top seeds improved to 16-1-1 by extending their winning streak to 7 games and unbeaten streak to 13 games.
Julia Glowacki added four goals and two assists as Crestwood won the opener to the tournament. The other three games were postponed to Tuesday because of threatening weather.
Hannah Ziegler had two goals and four assists while Grace Pasternick had a goal and three assists.
Emma Domzalski, Katlyn Bozinko, Ella Novelli and Mia Costello each added goals while Olivia Jardine had an assist.
Morgan Koons made six saves and Ainsley four for the Lady Comets.
Mia Marriggi scored five goals, including her 50th of the season for Pittston Area.
Sophia Montagna made nine saves, including her 150th.
Ashlynn Selden, Catherine Zaladonis and Danielle Whitman scored the other Pittston Area goals.
Caporuscio scored the last of her eight goals with 3:29 left in the half for a 12-3 lead.
Crestwood pushed that lead to 14-3 at halftime and 19-4 with 12:10 remaining.
Pittston Area finished 6-9.
Crestwood advanced to host the Scranton Prep-Wyoming Seminary winner in Thursday’s semifinals.
