Crestwood leads girls lacrosse rankings

Wyoming Valley Conference leader Crestwood is also the leader in the first Riverfront Sports Girls Lacrosse Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The Lady Comets are 7-2 overall, with both losses coming in their two non-league games against District 11 opponents.

Wyoming Area, the district’s only unbeaten team overall, is second. The Lady Warriors are 6-0, including 5-0 in the WVC.

Crestwood’s wins include handing No. 3 Lake-Lehman its only loss, 10-7, and beating No. 4 Wyoming Seminary more decisively than Wyoming Area.

Lake-Lehman is 5-1, playing all its games in the WVC, which is the only league for the sport in District 2. The Lady Knights lead District 2 teams in scoring with 17.5 goals per game.

Wyoming Seminary has won a WVC and a District 2 title in every year the sport has been contested. The Blue Knights (6-2 and 7-3) have seven WVC overall or divisional titles and nine District 2 championships.

The Blue Knights have lost this season to the two WVC unbeatens, 13-6 to Crestwood and 8-7 to Wyoming Area.

Scranton Prep, which is tied with Lake-Lehman for third place in the WVC, is ranked fifth. The Classics are 5-2 overall.

Initial rankings for other sports will be released daily, then each will be updated on a weekly basis.

The number of teams being ranked will be dependent on the number of District 2 schools that participate in the particular sport.
