CROSS COUNTRY ROUNDUP: Danilovitz siblings post victories

Riverside siblings Daniel and Lacey Danilovitz each ran to victories Oct. 19 during a Lackawanna League cross country season-ending, six-team cluster meet at Lackawanna Trail.

Lakeland’s Scott Bevilacqua finished second in the boys race.

Joe Cardillo and Tommy Clark finished third and fourth to lead Dunmore to a 3-0 day that included a 26-29 victory over Lakeland.

Riverside and Lakeland each went 2-1 at the meet while Lackawanna Trail was 1-2. Old Forge went 1-2 with the help of a win over Western Wayne, which forfeited its meets.

The Lakeland girls went 3-0 while Old Forge and Riverside each went 2-1. Lackawanna Trail and Western Wayne each went 1-2 with tie-breaking wins over Lackawanna Trail in the meets between teams with limited lineups.

Lacey Danilovitz won by 58 seconds. The race was the last tune-up for Danilovitz in preparation for trying to defend her District 2 Class A individual title Oct. 28 at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds.

Madison Kammer from Western Wayne was second.

Morgan Lutz, Olivia James, Emily Black and Madison Miller finished third through sixth to lead Lakeland to its sweep.

Brian McCormack from Scranton and Jenna Hillebrand from Scranton Prep were the individual winners in a meet hosted by Holy Cross.

The Scranton Prep boys went 3-0, while Mid Valley and Holy Cross were 2-1. Scranton and West Scranton picked up forfeits over Carbondale.

Scranton edged Scranton Prep, 28-29, in the girls race as part of its 3-0 day.

Scranton Prep and Holy Cross went 2-1. Mid Valley and Carbondale got wins from Carbondale’s forfeits.

Mid Valley placed Vincenzo Iacavazzi and Gabe Pacyna second and third in the boys race.

Scranton Prep won by placing Graham Oven fourth, then Ryan Flaim, Gordon Kopa, Wyatt Stelmak and Peter Pavuk in succession from sixth to ninth.

Teddy Novak led Holy Cross with a fifth-place finish.

Bella Noreika and Emily Hopkins finished second and third to lead Scranton to its girls sweep.
