Dallas, Blue Ridge join rankings

Ranked teams cruised toward the postseason, winning 90 percent of their games in the past week.

As a result, the only changes in this week’s Riverfront Sports Super Six Baseball Power Rankings of District 2 teams occur at the bottom of those rankings.

Dallas and Blue Ridge took over the No. 6 spots in Big Schools and Small Schools in the rankings, which were released Saturday and include the outcomes of Saturday’s games.

The top five in each set of rankings remained the same.

Dallas replaced Abington Heights in the sixth spot among Big Schools following a 4-0 week in which it outscored opponents, 35-3.

Blue Ridge won its two games to replace Mid Valley in sixth among Small Schools.

Hazleton Area and Riverside continue to lead the rankings.

Hazleton Area outscored four opponents, 57-9, while running its winning streak to 17 games and clinching the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 title.

Lackawanna League Division 3 champion Riverside won three times, also finishing the week on a 17-game winning streak.

Wallenpaupack, North Pocono, Wyoming Area and Pittston Area are second through fifth in Big Schools.

Lake-Lehman, Scranton Prep, Dunmore and Old Forge are second through fifth in Small Schools. Lake-Lehman has clinched at least a tie for first in WVC Division 2.
