PLAINS TWP. – Dallas captured its third consecutive District 2 Class 2A Swimming and Diving Championship Friday and Saturday at Wilkes-Barre Area High School after obtaining points from eight top-three finishes and adding them to Brianne Dempsey winning gold in last week’s diving competition.
Dallas compiled 283 points, beating out Scranton Prep by 44½ points.
Marisa-Lucia Pirore, Sarah Gauntlett, Erika Doran and Olivia Sitkowski took third place in the 200-yard medley relay to start racking up points for the Lady Mounts, who came into Friday with an early points lead based on the diving.
Lydia Gonzales led the way, winning the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle.
Peyton Stauffer grabbed second in the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle.
Stauffer, Audrey Haydu, Olivia Thomas and Gonzales won gold in the 200 freestyle relay, and took second in the 400 freestyle relay for Dallas.
Wyoming Seminary’s Ryleigh Collins, Alyssa Kelly and Cara McCall each had first-place finishes to lead their team.
Collins won the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Kelly won the 100 butterfly, and McCall won the 100 backstroke in a close race.
McCall, Kelly, Collins and Claire Stretanski won the 200 medley relay and McCall, Kelly, Collins and Ava Betnar captured gold in the 400 freestyle relay.
Lily Nemeth won the 50 freestyle, and Molly Hubal won the 100 breaststroke marking the two Valley View individual wins.
Scranton Prep topped Wyoming Seminary for second place, 238½-225. Elk Lake was fourth with 128, followed by: Valley View 115, Lake-Lehman 86, Dunmore 75.5, Wyoming Area 45, Wallenpaupack 44, MMI 26, Holy Redeemer 25, Carbondale 23, North Pocono 22, Lakeland 9 and Mid Valley 5.
