Del. Valley, Berwick finish 1-2

Delaware Valley and Berwick finished 1-2 in the final Electric City Volleyball Academy Elite Eight Power Rankings of District 2 girls teams, which were released late Wednesday night.

Only one District 2 team remains active. Third-ranked Holy Redeemer is playing in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 2A state quarterfinals Saturday, but regardless of the outcome the Lady Royals are locked into the third spot.

Holy Redeemer finished behind both Delaware Valley and Berwick during the Wyoming Valley Conference season.

Delaware Valley went unbeaten into the state tournament where the Wyoming Valley Conference and district Class 4A champion had its season end.

Like Delaware Valley, Berwick (Class 3A) won a district title since the previous rankings, then got knocked out of the state tournament.

Holy Redeemer is the only team to have won twice in the last week.

The first three remained the same, along with Nanticoke and Crestwood in fourth and fifth.

Lackawanna League Division 1 champion Western Wayne is the only team to move up this week, going from seventh to sixth. It swapped places with Hazleton Area, which lost in the district Class 4A final.

Blue Ridge, the Lackawanna Division 2 and district Class A champion, is eighth.
