Lacota Dippre announced on social media Saturday that he has decided to continue his football career on the Football Bowl Subdivision level at Charlotte.
The Lakeland senior, a two-time District 2 Defensive Player of the Year choice by our partner website, NEPAFootball.com, had recently announced a decision to reconsider the recruiting process. Dippre had announced a commitment to Holy Cross, a lower-level National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I team, prior to the start of the season.
Dippre played both defensive end and inside linebacker for the Chiefs, the only District 2 team to post an unbeaten regular season. The Chiefs won Lackawanna Football Conference Division 3 and District 2 Class 3A titles.
During his senior season, Dippre had 62 tackles, 22 tackles for losses, 11 sacks, 6 quarterback hurries and 3 interceptions.
Dippre also was a standout tight end, a position he could be playing in college. He led District 2 in receptions with 62, picking up 920 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns. He scored 19 total touchdowns with 5 as a runner in Lakeland’s short-yardage offense, another as a kick returner and 1 on an interception.
Charlotte went 2-6 in Conference USA this fall and finished 3-9 overall.
