Unbeaten conference champions Abington Heights and Wyoming Seminary are the top seeds, as anticipated, for the District 2 girls tennis team tournaments, according to brackets released on the district website Friday morning.
The Class 2A tournament begins Friday because it has nine teams with .500 or better records and one match is needed to trim the field to the eight quarterfinalists.
The eight-team Class 3A tournament opens Monday.
Defending champion Abington Heights is 14-0 heading into the Class 3A tournament. The Comets won the Lackawanna League.
Wyoming Seminary went 13-0, including 12-0 in the Wyoming Valley Conference, and is the top seed in Class 2A.
Quarterfinals are Monday and Tuesday with the specific starting time of some of the matches still to be determined. Defending champion Scranton Prep, the second seed in Class 2A, gets the round started with a Monday, 11 a.m. match at home against Valley View.
The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Kirby Park on Thursday. Class 2A semifinals start the day at 11 a.m., followed, tentatively by Class 3A semifinals at 12:30 p.m., Class 2A finals at 2 p.m. and Class 3A finals at 3 p.m.
