MAIN EVENT
Montrose defeated Susquehanna, 78-63, in a Lackawanna Track Conference Division 4 boys meet between teams that entered the day 3-0 and tied for first.
The Meteors used the win to clinch at least a tie for first place in the division. They can take the title outright Monday with a win over last-place Blue Ridge.
TOP PERFORMERS
Emma Button, Blue Ridge, girls track and field – Button won the 100-meter dash, long jump and triple jump to keep Blue Ridge in first-place tie with Montrose heading into a title showdown when the Lady Raiders routed Mountain View, 101-34. She added a second-place finish in the 200.
Bronson Kilmer, Mountain View baseball – Kilmer hit a pair of three-run homers, added a third hit and scored a third run as the Eagles blasted Susquehanna, 23-3, in five innings in Lackawanna Division 4.
Gretchen Rejrat, Lackawanna Trail softball – Rejrat went 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBI during a 12-10 victory over Carbondale in Lackawanna League Division 3.
Lily Sedlak, Mountain View softball – Sedlak struck out six in a three-inning perfect game, drove in six runs with two homers and added a single and walk during a 19-0 rout of Susquehanna in Lackawanna Division 4.
Joe Shishkowski, Lake-Lehman boys volleyball – Shishkowski had 11 kills, 9 service points, 5 aces and 5 digs in a three-set, WVC sweep of Hanover Area by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-15.
TOP DEVELOPMENTS
Hazleton Area remained unbeaten in WVC Division 1 baseball by rallying past Crestwood, 7-3, after trailing, 2-0, through 2½ innings.
Madison Kizer, Krista Cortazar and winning pitcher Maranda Runco all hit homers as Lackawanna Division 2 softball leader Mid Valley defeated Old Forge, 12-2, in five innings to also protect its unbeaten league record.
QUICK HITS
Will McGrath and Brady Holmes scored five goals each as Scranton Prep defeated Dallas, 16-5, in a WVC boys lacrosse game.
Jack Senape had four goals and an assist to help Wilkes-Barre Area overcome four goals, including the 100th of his career, by Holy Redeemer’s Josh Wesneski for a 6-5 WVC boys lacrosse victory.
Tate Pentasuglio went 3-for-3 and scored twice when Abington Heights downed Scranton, 6-4, in Lackawanna Division 1 baseball.
