Old Forge and Scranton will be the only two schools to host quarterfinal doubleheaders, according to the official basketball playoff pairings released by District 2 early Sunday afternoon.
Playing in different classifications set up the boys and girls teams from those schools to play on the same day. Earning the higher seed in each case meant playing at home.
Both teams will have girls games at 6 p.m. and boys following at approximately 7:30.
Old Forge will host the Forest City girls in Class 2A and the Lakeland boys in Class 3A Tuesday.
Scranton will host the North Pocono girls in Class 5A and the Wyoming Valley West boys in the District 2-4 Class 6A Subregional Wednesday.
The official pairings released by District 2 were the same as those projected on this website – once the site made one adjustment in Class 6A boys in the first hour after the original posting.
There was, however, some news in today’s bracket release.
The MMI boys, Forest City boys and Mountain View girls will all get to host their first game in the District 2-11 Class A Subregional, according to an agreement reached between the two districts Saturday.
When District 11, which administers the Class A tournaments because it has the majority of the teams, released its brackets earlier Saturday it was with neutral sites, most of them to be announced, in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.
Although the tournament will still use neutral sites for those games within District 11, District 2 teams will be able to use their own home court when they are the higher seed prior to the final. That agreement allows higher-seeded teams in each district to play under the rules used in their own districts.
As expected, the majority of the non-Saturday starting times were set for 7 p.m.
The exceptions are the two doubleheaders and the longest road trip. Delaware Valley’s District 2-4 Class 6A Subregional girls quarterfinal will have a 6 p.m. start Tuesday.
The only Saturday starting time announced was in Class 2A boys where top-seeded Holy Cross will host the Montrose-Mountain View winner at 2 p.m.
