FIELD HOCKEY ROUNDUP: Three games decided by single goal

Wyoming Area, Wyoming Valley West and Honesdale pulled out one-goal victories in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 field hockey games Monday.

Bianca Pizano and Toni Minichello scored as Wyoming Area remained unbeaten by defeating Crestwood, 2-1, in a game between ranked teams.

Wyoming Area is ranked second and Crestwood third in the Golden Dome Abstract Super Six Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

Carly Saranchuk made six saves to help Wyoming Area improve to 2-0 in the division and 5-0 overall.

Emma Guydish scored and Isabella Caporuscio made 11 saves for Crestwood (1-2, 5-2).

Georgia Tsioles scored the only goal of the game on the completion of a penalty corner with no time on the clock as Wyoming Valley West got past Dallas, 1-0.

Sixth-ranked Honesdale defeated fourth-ranked Lackawanna Trail, 2-1.

In other games: Hazleton Area shut out Wilkes-Barre Area, 2-0; Lake-Lehman defeated Holy Redeemer, 6-2; and Wyoming Seminary routed Delaware Valley, 9-0.

Abby Smithnosky and Megan Kernis scored for Hazleton Area, which got four saves from Elaina Ashman.
