First rankings set up 1-2 meeting

Delaware Valley is the top-ranked team in the first Riverfront Sports Boys Lacrosse Power Rankings of the season and the Warriors will get an immediate chance to prove that ranking.

Crestwood, last season’s No. 1 team for every ranking of the season, opens the season at No. 2 and is scheduled to host Delaware Valley Friday.

Delaware Valley was ranked third to finish last season. The Warriors are off to a 3-0 start in which they have outscored opponents, 46-11.

Crestwood won Wyoming Valley Conference and District 2 Class championships last season when it advanced to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state semifinals. The Comets lead the WVC at 5-0 and are 5-1 overall with a 4-2 loss to Selinsgrove.

Wyoming Seminary, which reached the District 2 final and state Class 2A tournament a year ago when it finished in the second spot in the rankings, is third. The Blue Knights are 3-1 with the only loss coming to Johnson City (N.Y.).

Lake-Lehman opens the season ranked fourth with the help of a win over rival Dallas. The Black Knights are 2-1 with the only loss coming to top-ranked Delaware Valley.

Dallas is ranked fifth, the same spot it was in to end last season.

Scranton Prep ended last season ranked fourth. The Cavaliers received consideration but are not in the rankings to open this season.
