Morgan Nevel and Cecelia Isenberg made sure Berwick got through the quarterfinals of the District 2-4 Class 3A girls volleyball tournament with little difficulty Saturday afternoon on its home court.
The top-seeded Lady Bulldogs swept District 4 representative Athens, 25-15, 25-15, 25-11.
Nevel had 33 assists, 10 service points, 3 aces and 2 kills. Isenberg had 22 kills, 9 digs, 7 points and 4 aces.
Erin Hess chipped in with five points, four kills and two aces.
Berwick’s only loss this season came against Wyoming Valley Conference champion Delaware Valley, an unbeaten Class 4A team. The Lady Bulldogs (13-1) host the semifinals Thursday against the Dallas-North Pocono winner.
Crestwood swept visiting Tunkhannock, 26-24, 25-13, 25-18, in Saturday’s other Class 3A match.
Crestwood will be home again Thursday against the Nanticoke-Pittston Area winner in the semifinals.
