Hanover ends field hockey season

Hanover Area has forfeited its season-ending Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 field hockey game against Abington Heights because of a lack of available players and has withdrawn from consideration for the District 2 Class A playoffs.

The game was scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Including the forfeit, Hanover Area completes the season at 1-11 in the division and 1-14 overall.

The Lady Hawkeyes remained competitive through Thursday, losing at home, 5-2, to division leader Wallenpaupack. Five of the losses were by three goals or less and three more were by four goals.

Abington Heights finishes 8-2-2 in the division and is headed to the District 2-4 Class 2A Subregional playoffs.
